PIPER PA28 and PA32 WING SPAR INSPECTION

NOTICE: Revised Piper Service Bulletin 1345A and results form are now in effect

The FAA has issued an Airworthiness Directive AD 2020-26-16 for certain models of Piper PA28 and PA32 single engine aircraft that require inspection of the wing spar connection.

Affected Piper models:  PA-28-151, PA-28-161, PA-28-181, PA-28-235, PA-28R-180, PA-28R-200, PA-28R-201, PA-28R-201T, PA-28RT-201, PA-28RT-201T, PA-32-260, PA-32-300, PA-32R-300, PA-32RT-300, and PA-32RT-300T.

Mobile NDT has the professional certifications and expertise in Aircraft Maintenance and the Eddy Current method needed to comply with this AD at the location of your aircraft.

This AD has been issued because of three separate fatal accidents where the wing separated from the fuselage resulting in loss of aircraft control. See the NTSB Reports Below

This inspection is required if the factored service calculation is greater than 5000 hours total time in service or if the aircraft maintenance log books are incomplete or missing. Mobile NDT has created a quick calculator to determine the Factored Service Hours below.

Most aircraft owners comply with service letters and service bulletins because it provides pilots and passengers a level of comfort knowing their aircraft has been maintained to the highest safety standards. Aside from the AD mandatory inspection requirement, owners must also consider the effect on the resale value of their aircraft as well as the peace of mind if this inspection has been performed.
